Human beings, by nature, are creatures of habits. While this can be beneficial to us in many ways, some of our habits are not uplifting, constructive, or positive. Habits taken to the extreme, in fact, can even become addictions in our lives. Whether you are talking about smoking, nail biting, or snacking too late in the evening, the path to overcoming and changing these habits or addictions in your life is the same.
Letter to the Universe
In order to become victorious in the area of habits and addictions, you must first realize that you are not alone. Your greatest partner in achieving what you want in life is found in your connection with Spirit and the universe. For this reason, it is important to define your goals on intellectual and energetic levels. Once you have identified these goals, it will be much easier to recognize them when they surface in your everyday life. Additionally, you will be creating a strong and coherent vibrational output that will draw your goals in your direction!
In order to get very clear on your goals for overcoming bad habits and addictions and set in motion the manifestation of your desired outcome, begin by using a tool called “Letter to the Universe.”
Step By Step
The first step in creating your Letter to the Universe is to connect with Spirit and ask for guidance. During your connection, be sure to focus on creating a strong and coherent vibrational output around the goal of overcoming the habit or addiction in your life.
Secondly, you want to activate the goal by creating a list of tangible things that support the goal’s outcome. This may include things that distract, discourage, or combat the habit you wish to break or the cravings of the addiction you wish to stop. You can then further divide this list into categories for better organization.
Thirdly, you will want to spend some time imagining what you need to accomplish in order to reach your goal. Because breaking habits requires that you do things differently for a period of time, you may want to imagine how you will adjust your actions. If you wish to stop smoking, for example, start with things that “trigger” your desire for a cigarette. If you typically smoke first thing in the morning, imagine yourself replacing this action with a new habit, such as brushing your teeth. If you have always gone for a smoking break from work at 10 a.m., imagine yourself using this break time to take a brisk walk around your office building. The key here is to see yourself taking steps toward the overall goal.
The fourth step when creating your Letter to the Universe is to write an affirmative statement or series of statements that support your goal. This portion of the process should be clear, concise, and express exactly what you want.
Moving forward to the fifth step, you will want to identify how you will feel when the affirmative statement(s) that you have written above become reality. Attempt to step into your future and imagine the world from that perspective. If this is difficult for you, consider writing what you would like to feel! Write down as many feelings as you want!
Step six is similar to step five, but from the perspective of others. In this step, you will want to identify how others, especially those people who you are especially close to, will feel once you have reached your goal, changed your habit, or overcome your addiction.
The final portion (step seven) of your Letter to the Universe focuses on action steps. Make a list of actions that you can take to manifest the affirmative statement(s) that you made in step four. Use this as an opportunity to brainstorm and just write down what comes to mind.
Once you have completed all seven steps for as many goals, habits, or addictions as you would like, email or send your “letter” to yourself. Imagine that the universe has received it and responded letting you know that it is on the case and working with you! Finally, amp up your energy around your goal and use your letter as a basis to make the changes in your life that you desire!
